For years, Raquel Kasham Daniel has worked to ensure that girls have the support systems they need to stay in school, build confidence, and pursue their futures. Through her work mentoring adolescent girls and advocating for safer environments for their growth, Daniel has helped create spaces where girls can ask questions, find guidance, and strengthen their belief in their potential.
Daniel is the founder of Beyond the Classroom Foundation, a nonprofit organisation dedicated to empowering girls through education, mentorship, and community engagement.
In recognition of this work, Daniel has been named a Finalist in the International Humanitarian Impact category of the 2026 Women Changing the World Awards, a global platform celebrating women creating meaningful change across communities and industries.
The awards received more than 1,500 nominations from 97 countries, highlighting women whose work is transforming lives through humanitarian leadership, advocacy, and social innovation.
The International Humanitarian Impact category recognises leaders whose work addresses pressing social challenges and improves the lives of vulnerable populations through community-driven initiatives.
Finalists in this category include:
Andrea Putting (Australia)
Claudia Castro Manunga (Colombia)
Eunice Adewusi (Nigeria)
Maitreyi Karanth (India)
Raquel Kasham Daniel (Nigeria)
Taz Dunstan (New Zealand)
Victoria Haihambo (Namibia)
Wadzanai Nyakabau (Zimbabwe)
Through Beyond the Classroom Foundation, Daniel has led initiatives that connect women mentors with adolescent girls, strengthen support systems around girls’ education, and promote environments where girls can grow with confidence and clarity.
One such initiative, Sisters for HER, brings women together to mentor adolescent girls through structured conversations, storytelling, and practical guidance during critical stages of adolescence.
Speaking about the recognition, Daniel said the honour reflects the collective effort of communities and mentors who continue to invest in the futures of girls.
“This recognition is a reminder that when girls are supported and encouraged, they are able to pursue their dreams with confidence. Mentorship and education remain powerful tools for helping girls realise their potential and shape their own futures.”
The Women Changing the World Awards winners will be announced at the Women Changing the World Global Summit and Awards Ceremony in Paris on 22 April 2026, where leaders and changemakers from around the world will gather to celebrate women creating lasting impact.
