Championing Girls’ Futures: NGO Calls for Expanded Support and Investment in Girl-Child Education

Date:

A leading non-governmental organisation, the Chianyiamanda Foundation, has issued a strong appeal for increased support and stronger commitment to girl-child education across Nigeria. The foundation emphasised that targeted interventions and broader stakeholder engagement are critical to ensuring girls can access quality schooling and stay in school through completion.

At a recent advocacy gathering, foundation representatives underscored the persistent barriers that continue to limit girls’ educational opportunities, including financial constraints, cultural norms, and gaps in community support. They highlighted that addressing these challenges requires not only public awareness but significantly enhanced partnerships with government, civil society, and private sector actors.

According to the NGO, expanding resources for girls’ education, from scholarships and learning materials to community empowerment programmes, will not only improve literacy and skill development but will also strengthen long-term socio-economic outcomes for families and communities nationwide.

In their statement, the foundation’s leadership reiterated that investing in girls’ education is foundational to national progress, arguing that when girls learn and thrive, they unlock broader societal benefits — including healthier communities, reduced inequality, and a more dynamic workforce for the future.
