Ishk Tolaram Foundation supports the Ashake Skill and Knowledge Acquisition Project (ASKAP)

Date:

The Ashake Foundation has officially launched the Ashake Skill and Knowledge Acquisition Project (ASKAP), a three-month empowerment initiative designed to equip young mothers in Abuja with practical skills, financial literacy, and mentorship support to help them build sustainable livelihoods and become economically independent.

The project, supported by the ISHK Tolaram Foundation, will empower 15 beneficiaries drawn from Durumi, Kabusa, and Lugbe communities in the Federal Capital Territory. Over the course of three months, participants will undergo hands-on vocational training, business development sessions, and mentorship to strengthen their capacity to earn, save, and grow small enterprises.

ASKAP builds upon Ashake Foundation’s proven Nwa-Girl Apprenticeship Model, which integrates skills acquisition, peer mentorship, and community engagement. This approach ensures that participants are not only trained in market-relevant skills but also guided through real-world application and post-training support, helping them transition from learning to earning with confidence.

The project was officially launched on November 5, 2025, with an orientation session for beneficiaries held in Durumi, Abuja. The event marked the beginning of the training phase and introduced participants to the program’s curriculum, facilitators, and mentorship network.

Speaking at the launch, Mrs. Mayowa Adegbile, Founder of Ashake Foundation, emphasized the organization’s continued commitment to sustainable women’s empowerment:

“We designed ASKAP to give young mothers a real chance to rebuild their lives. Many of them are hardworking but lack access to opportunities and guidance. Through this program, we are helping them gain skills, financial knowledge, and the confidence to provide for themselves and their families.”

She added,

“We are deeply grateful to the ISHK Tolaram Foundation for believing in this vision and supporting us to bring it to life. Their partnership has made it possible to reach more women and extend the impact of our work within underserved communities.”

Through this collaboration, Ashake Foundation and Ishk Tolaram Foundation are advancing a shared goal: empowering women to lift themselves and their families out of poverty. By focusing on young mothers in vulnerable communities, ASKAP directly contributes to improving household income, promoting gender equality, and strengthening local economies.

At the end of the program, participants will not only have acquired technical and business skills but will also receive mentorship and support to help them establish small-scale businesses or gain employment within their chosen vocations.

Through ASKAP, Ashake Foundation reaffirms its mission to create sustainable opportunities for women and girls across Nigeria, one empowered mother at a time.
